Notifications

How do notifications work and why is the bell slow?

The bell is at the top right of the header. If you are not signed in, tapping it takes you to sign-in. What you get notified about: • A new conversation on one of your listings • An offer • A price drop on a listing you already contacted the seller about • System messages: moderation, enforcement, a dispute case It is not a live connection. The bell checks for new items about every 45 seconds, and again whenever you come back to the tab, so something new can take up to a minute to appear. If you allowed browser push, a new conversation is also pushed to your device. Marking them read: • Opening the bell does not mark everything read. Tap a notification to open it and mark that one. • There is a Mark all read action for the rest. • You can delete a single notification, or clear them all. The list keeps your 30 most recent notifications. If you expected something and it is not there, open Messages directly. The chat list is the source of truth for conversations.
